A rim report is an official document that confirms the suitability of a rim for a specific vehicle. It contains information such as size, weight, load capacity and other technical data.

Basically, there is no difference, as the two words mean the same thing. The only important thing is that your certificate of suitability or your report is issued in such a way that it is accepted by the road traffic authority.

A rim report is required if you want to fit new rims to your vehicle that are not registered in the vehicle documents. The report confirms that the rims meet the technical requirements and thus safe use is guaranteed.

Before purchasing new rims, it is advisable to check whether a Swiss rim report is required and provided.

Our Swiss rim reports are available from CHF 99.00 incl. VAT. There is a possibility that an expert opinion is more expensive, since in this case we also have to pay the manufacturer a certain amount. However, we will let you know after the request.

1. Fill out our rim request.
2. We will then let you know whether the rims are compatible with your vehicle or not. If so, you may order it online. If not, we'll try to find another way.
3. After ordering, we will send you the document in physical form and you can register with a photo of it at the cantonal road traffic office for a rim inspection (cost between 50.00 and 85.00 Fr depending on the canton)
4. In order to ensure that your appointment with the Road Traffic Office runs smoothly, you must provide the vehicle registration document with our Swiss wheel rim report.
5. The appointment will last around 15 minutes and, after checking our rim report and your rims, will give you permission to drive legally in Switzerland.
6. This test is written down in your vehicle registration document and makes it clear to every police officer that this is now officially compatible.

Certified Swiss rim appraisals are important for car owners as they ensure compliance with Swiss regulations and safety standards. With a valid rim appraisal, car owners can be sure that the rims used meet the required specifications and that their vehicle is safe and, above all, legal. Otherwise, very high fines such as a test appointment at the road traffic office, which is subject to a fee, can follow.

Fortunately, not every rim has to be presented to the Swiss Road Traffic Office. But only those that do not correspond to the original dimensions (visible in the details of the type certificate) or have not already been checked for this vehicle by a rim importer.

A Swiss rim report is usually issued by the importer or manufacturer of the rims for your specific vehicle.

It is important to note that if you want to fit these rims to another car, you will need a new certificate.

Yes, if you buy new rims, you must have your vehicle inspected again to ensure that the new rims meet legal requirements and do not pose a danger to road traffic. The inspection is carried out by the Road Traffic Office or a testing organization and confirms that the new rims are compatible with your vehicle and comply with legal requirements. Without the rim inspection, you risk a fine or, in the worst case, even losing your registration.

The Dynamic Test Center (DTC) or FAKT is a recognized testing center of the Federal Department of Justice and Police (FDJP). They carry out independent and comprehensive tests on the active and passive safety of vehicles, aircraft and their components. Among other things, vehicles are tested for possible track widening outside the norm.

In most cases, rims that have not been type-approved by the car manufacturer together with the vehicle or VSA/ASA-approved by an importer must be inspected separately. A simple rim report such as the one we issue is required.

A report from the DTC or FAKT allows changes to be made to the vehicle that deviate from the legal standards. For example, if the offset of the opposing rims is reduced by more than 1% of the track width, this results in a track widening with a deviation of more than 2%. In this case, you must present a rim report and a test report from the DTC or Fakt for the track widening in accordance with VTS Art. 56 Para. 1 + 3 when the vehicle is inspected (at the cantonal road traffic office).
