BBS is one of the most renowned wheel brands worldwide, linked since the 1970s to motorsport, premium tuning and OEM supply for manufacturers like Porsche, BMW M and Mercedes-AMG. Headquartered in Schiltach in the Black Forest, production happens mainly in Germany with deep vertical integration (forging, machining, painting). Hallmarks include the Y-spoke design of the RS line, the cross-spoke look of the LM and CH-R, and the consistent use of high-strength aluminium for minimal weight at maximum stiffness.

In Switzerland, BBS wheels are particularly popular among drivers of German premium brands, in tuning and on classic sports cars. Because BBS wheels are often fitted in non-OEM dimensions, a declaration of conformity is generally required for registration.

Our Swiss declaration of conformity for BBS wheels – also referred to as wheel certificate, wheel report or suitability declaration – is an official document containing all information required by the cantonal road traffic offices:

• Manufacturer and model designation of the BBS wheel (e.g. BBS CH-R 8.5×19 ET32, 5×112)
• Permitted tyre dimensions with load and speed indices

How much does a BBS wheel certificate cost in Switzerland?

The BBS wheel certificate costs CHF 199.– if you can provide a Swiss proof of purchase for your wheels, or CHF 299.– without. Both variants include the full inspection guarantee and cover all common BBS series.

Why does the certificate cost more without Swiss proof of purchase?

Without a Swiss original receipt, we have to additionally verify the wheels' authenticity and conformity with locally permitted specifications. This extra effort is reflected in the price difference.

Which BBS series does the certificate cover?

We issue declarations of conformity for all current and older BBS model lines, including CH-R, CI-R, RI-A, SR, SX, RX-R, FI-R as well as classics like RS, LM and Super RS. Before ordering, we check coverage for free based on your application form.

How long does the BBS certificate take?

Issuance takes 1 to 3 working days after complete data submission – regardless of the variant chosen.

Which documents do I need for the order?

Vehicle registration document (front and back), the exact BBS wheel designation with dimension (e.g. BBS CH-R 8.5×19 ET32, 5×112), tyre size and any track wideners or lowering. For the variant with Swiss proof of purchase, also the Swiss invoice with VAT.

What counts as Swiss proof of purchase?

An original invoice or receipt from a Swiss dealer with Swiss VAT shown. Online orders from abroad, private purchases or auction platforms without Swiss VAT do not count – choose the variant without Swiss proof of purchase in those cases.

Is the BBS certificate accepted by all Swiss road traffic offices?

Yes. Our declarations of conformity are recognised by all 26 cantonal road traffic offices in Switzerland – including Aargau, Zurich, Bern, Lucerne, St. Gallen, Vaud, Geneva, Ticino and all other cantons.

What happens if the inspection fails despite the certificate?

The inspection guarantee applies: full refund if the wheels are fitted as specified in the certificate.

Do I need a special certificate for tuned or used BBS wheels?

For combinations not foreseen by the manufacturer or modified wheels, we issue a special or DTC certificate. In most cases, registration is possible.

Is the certificate also valid for winter wheels?

Yes. The certificate covers the wheels listed regardless of the tyre fitted. Summer and winter tyres are listed as separate configurations.
